Current Bike Setups
2004 Iron Horse SGS World Cup, Marzocchi Super T fork and Kona Stinky Primo—my DJ and play bike. I like to keep my forks’ rebound really fast to resist bottoming, but I like to keep it soft for the small bumps. Rear Shock for DH, 100 PSI of air pressure with the rebound in the middle, beginning stroke all the way out and the end stroke ¾ of the way in for the bigger hits. Dirt Jump bike, my Romic is pretty much as stiff as it will go, with the rebound 5 clicks out.
Favorite Event/Venue
The U.S. Nationals in Mammoth Best time I had on my bike racing the U.S. Nationals: I had a great time hanging out with the team and everything seemed to come together for me on Sunday morning.
Worst Time Biking
Getting a pinch flat at the top of Bootleg Canyon. I had to walk my bike down all of the steep trails in 95 degree heat—GOOD TIMES!
Gnarliest Thing Pulled
I would say some of the trails up in Bootleg. Hitting the “Poop Shoot” with some speed and hanging on for dear life was pretty fun.
Worst Crash
A high speed dinger up in Santa Barbara. They happen in a split of a second, but your mind is filled with a 1000 thoughts.
Pre-race Jitters/Preparation
As much as people don’t want to admit it, everyone gets nervous before a race. I try to stay calm by taking to my friends, laughing, and generally keeping my mind off the race. The best way to prepare is not to “over think” the race or the course. However, once I’m on the start box, that’s where the stress begins. Luckily, once I’m on the course, instinct takes over, and I become calm.
Interests Outside Of Biking
Hanging out with the wife, friends, and family.
Music
Rock and punk
Occupation
HR Supervisor
Food
I don’t discriminate when it comes to food: Italian, Mexican, and of course the Munch Box—best hamburger stand in the Valley.
Advice For Newcomers
Have fun, stay within your limits, but realize that crashing is part of the game—wear your HELMET!
Last But Not Least
I would like to thank the entire SBF Team for everything. I always have a great time with your guys. In addition, I would like to thank all of our sponsors for their support. I’m looking forward to the 2006 race season.
