MTB Nationals To Sonoma, CA
SBF News By reeceb on 5/18/2006 10:51 AM

USA Cycling just announced that Infineon Raceway in Sonoma, CA will host the 2006 USA Cycling Mountain Bike National Championships July 13-16 as part of the Infineon Technologies Cougar Mountain Classic.

Originally planned for the following weekend, the 2006 USA Cycling Mountain Bike National Championships have been moved up one week after a record amount of snowfall forced the event's relocation from Mammoth Mountain last month.

Initially designated as the fifth round of the 2006 National Mountain Bike Series, the event has been removed from the series calendar and will no longer factor into the overall series standings. Instead, the event has been designated as the stand alone, American-only national championship for all levels and disciplines of mountain biking.

Downhill racing clinics will continue this year at Southridge starting this weekend, January 15 and 16.  The clinics will be run by Rich Houseman of Team Houseman.  Each clinic will be limited to 5 riders and will include personalized, one-on-one coaching for the weekend's race course.  Participants are encouraged to pit up with Team Houseman and hang out after the race on Sunday for some proper Houseman style BBQ.  Good stuff.

If you want to move up on the podium, then get on it.  more information at MBAction.com or check out the Team Houseman website.

Some SBF riders took the opportunity to attend last year's DH clinics and found them very helpful in gaining confidence on the bike as well as getting good lines dialed in on the race course.  Anyone interested will need to come up with $100 and contact Rich at Rich@teamhouseman.com to reserve a spot.  Do it quick.  They'll go fast.

SBF Rolls With Eric Carter
SBF News By reeceb on 12/19/2005 8:13 PM
SBFwithECsm.jpgLast weekend the SBF crew rode their local spot in PV with 2004 MTX World Champion and Team Mongoose's Eric Carter.  Eric was on hand with his personal quiver of racing machines including his two new signature bikes, the ECD and ECX, as well as the hardtail he rode in the Red Bull Road Rage.  The SBF team and guests had the opportunity to try out each of the bikes on their native terran with Eric to assist in tuning the bike to suit their size and style.

All of the riders responded with very positive feedback finding both bikes to be incredibly agile and responsive, especially the ECD with its extremely light weight.  After a few hours of riding together, Eric let the gang go off to try out the bikes on their own.  Later, everyone met up top for barbeque and time talk to EC about the bikes and riding in general.

SBF always has a great time riding together, but we were especiallly pleased and appreciative to have Eric Carter come out and share his equipment and passion for the sport of mountain bike racing with us.  With that, we would like to thank Eric for coming out.  We had a blast.

DonnyAward.jpgSouthridge Racing Club event promoter Don Jackson has a very special way of concluding the season. Every December SRC thanks its members and riders by hosting a special awards celebration. South Bay Freeride was there making a lot of racket and showed their appreciation by presenting Don Jackson an award for keeping the So Cal DH racing scene alive.

Check out the full story at Mountain Bike Action.

Special Thanks to Don Jackson and SRC
SBF News By reeceb on 12/5/2005 5:02 PM

SRCLogo.jpgSouth Bay Freeride would like to extend a special thanks to Don Jackson and the whole Southridge Racing Club crew for organizing and hosting a great series of events for the 2005 racing season.  The loss of Big Bear hit the Southern California DH racing community pretty hard, but Don Jackson and SRC stepped up to keep the sport alive and kicking.  SBF appreciates the effort and will continue to bring a strong presence to Southridge in in the 2006 racing season.

If you are new to mountain bike racing, Southridge is a great place to get started.  You won't find a friendlier or more supportive bunch of people anywhere.  For more information please visit
